There are many types of events for which you may want to rent a portable restroom. A road race, a family event in a park that does not have restroom facilities or a wedding or anniversary party. However, sometimes renting a Honey Bucket is not as easy as just calling us and ordering one. Here are three important tips to follow when renting a portable toilet.
Make sure you have enough units
Portable toilets can be expensive, costing at least a couple hundred dollars a day or more depending on the size and style of the unit. Therefore, you may be tempted to skip on the number of portable restrooms. However, that would be a bad idea. Not having enough portable restroom facilities for your guests can lead to long lines, angry, uncomfortable people and facilities that get overwhelmed with waste. Make sure you rent enough portable toilets to handle the number of guests you are going to have. A good rule of thumb to follow is one portable toilet for every 50 people, although if the event is more than four hours, then you should cut that ratio in half.
Match the type of toilet to the event
Portable toilets come in a variety of styles, from your basic brightly colored, single-stall chemical toilet, to trailers with flushable toilets, running water and private stalls. You should make sure to choose the right one. If you are hosting a concert or road race, simple portable restrooms are acceptable. However, if you have a more formal event, such as a wedding, it is a good idea to provide nicer facilities, such as a trailer with flushing toilets and running water.
Make sure you are following the law
Before renting a portable toilet, make sure there are no laws against it. If you want to put portable toilets in a public space to augment the facilities available because you are having a big event, you should check with the local municipality to ensure it is allowed and to see whether you need a permit. Even if you are putting the toilet facilities on private land, you should still check to make sure it is permitted. Some cities and towns have regulations regarding the placement and duration of portable toilets.
